Is 'Adrian Dittmann' An Elon Musk Burner Account? The Twitter Controversy Explained

Over the weekend, a whole lot of Twitter learned about the medium-sized account of an apparent Elon Musk fanboy named "Adrian Dittmann." This is because they think Adrian Dittmann is, in fact, an Elon Musk alt account, and that the Twitter / X CEO has gone to great lengths to build an anonymous persona who loves him and everything he does.

Are Elon Musk and "Adrian Dittmann" the same person? Here's why some people think so.

Why Do People Think Adrian Dittmann Is Secretly Elon Musk?

Adrian Dittmann has been on Twitter since July of 2021. His profile picture is not of a human person and to date, it does not appear as though he has ever posted a selfie on Twitter. He first entered the public eye last summer when he was in a Spaces chat with Elon, where he confused and amused Musk by sounding extremely similar to him.

This should prove that Dittmann and Musk were not the same person, considering they could be heard talking to each other (with their voices overlapping), but not all were convinced. Most notably, Alex Jones wasn't convinced when earlier this month, Dittmann appeared in one of his spaces sounding so much like Musk that Jones and the other panelists thought it was either Musk himself or an AI voice. When questioned about whether he was secretly Musk, Dittmann replied, "No, absolutely not. Nope, absolutely not. I’m definitely not Elon. 100% not."

If Dittmann is a real person, his case is severely complicated by the fact that Elon Musk is known to use burner accounts. In 2023, Musk was caught operating an alt account where he tweeted like a toddler, often replying to the tweets from his main account in baby-speak.

Furthermore, Dittmann loves tweeting about Musk. The account is full of pictures, videos, and audio clips of Musk. Many of his replies are to Musk, praising him and laughing at his jokes. Dittmann loves Twitter (so much that he only calls it "X") and Tesla.

Much of this was discovered after a Twitter user named @theliamnissan vanished from the platform after accusing Dittmann of being Musk's burner account. This led to speculation that Musk had banned the account for revealing the secret, and caused people to comb through Dittmann's tweets looking for evidence that Dittmann and Elon were the same person. However, @theliamnissan later clarified on Bluesky that he had left Twitter of his own volition after receiving threats.

What Is The Evidence Dittmann Is Not Secretly Elon Musk?

The first recorded conversation between Musk and Dittmann should remove any doubt that they're the same person. If Musk were to fake that conversation, he would have to have an advanced AI of himself that could converse with himself in real-time, which is farfetched, though not impossible. Other than that, followers of the "case" only have Dittmann's word to go on.

That's… basically it. Dittmann posts remarkably like Elon Musk, even going so far as to use Twitter's Twitch-like function to play Diablo 4, which is the same game Elon Musk played when he tested Twitter's streaming capabilities.

Of note, Dittmann's profile picture is an NFT one can find on OpenSea. It was minted in May of 2023, and Dittmann tweeted about it at the time, two months before he first appeared in headlines (shown below).

The description of the NFT reads, "Life is too short to worry about stupid things. Fall in love. Regret nothing, and don't let people bring you down. Study. think, and grow. The first NFT minted on ETH for the most renowned alt account" (emphasis added).

The traits of the NFT read: Character: Elon Esk 100%. Stigma: Elon DNA 100%. Voice: Elon Right 100%.
