Yes ideas like that are most likely extremes or people desiring for attention. However, gender itself is a debatable topic at the moment and there is not enough scientific evidence right now for a definite answer on the whole topic.

Well even opinions like that can get complicated because you would have to convince the person that it is a good metaphor to what you are saying. Then the person might bring up exceptions like people who lost a lung or was born without one and still managed to stay alive. Almost no one argues about sex, but gender is a very debated topic. Things like gender dysphoria are biological, so it is at least somewhat biological. However, there are many well done theories about how the ways the genders act and such were formed in society. So with opinions like that, there might be clear answers for some people, but there is no universal opinion. I think it is better to say your opinion and let others have their own because theirs will not so easily be changed as there is no clear answer for anyone.
