Commented on Jeff Bezos National Enquirer Blackmail Controversy

The Enquirer has probably gotten away with blackmailing loads of folks previously but why would they think that blackmailing Bezos was a good idea? The man has enough money to pay someone to kidnap a blackmailer, stuff them into a rocket and launch them into the sun and then pay people off to not care. There was no way that this was going to go well for them.

Crusader Kings II

Ok, so this is another good candidate. Why? Because you get to play in medieval Europe. You can play as the vikings, you can be an Austrian, you can even play the Byzantines. My favorite part about the game is if you play as a Christian, you can take a loan from the jews, then kick the jews out from the country so you don't pay the loan back. Just wait for a sale because this game is expensive.

>Favorite part isn't reforming German Paganism and eradicating Christianity from the face of the earth while sacking everything in your path.

>No mention of being able to seduce your horse as an insane character

Your opinion on CKII is shit.

Commented on Kian Lawley N-Word Controversy

To be fair, I'm not that familiar with the book. I mainly know it because I'm friends with folks who read a lot of Young Adult literature even though I have little interest in it. I'm mainly a Fantasy (if you can't tell from my avatar) and Science Fiction literature guy.

I mainly became aware of The Hate U Give because of this doozy of a controversy involving the New York Times Best Seller list. I also found out that, as of the listed article, it was popular enough to be on the list for nearly 25 weeks. Read the article just for the conspiracy aspect. It's absolutely insane and fascinating to read.

Again, I admit that I wouldn't know this otherwise if it weren't for the above article and because I know people who read a lot of these types of books. It's not really my thing.

>Considering no one’s heard of him or this movie before

Hadn’t heard of the actor but it’s not completely true that no one has heard of the movie. It’s a film adaptation for a young adult novel that’s actually really popular. (haven’t read it, though, so can’t comment on whether or not it’s good). Just because you may not pay attention to that specific genre, doesn’t mean that “no one’s heard of it.”

Posted in What meme did you hate the most

Much like everyone here, I hated Harambe. I despise it because the "joke" relied on beating it to death and continue beating the corpse.

I also had an irrational hatred for "Cracking open a cold one with the boys." I can't rationalize or explain why I hate this one so much, I just do.

Posted in Insert A Memeworthy Crossword Answer!

Hey folks! So, I tend to work on the New York Times Crossword and the clue for yesterday's puzzle at 26-Down was "Many an internet meme." So, as a fun little exercise, I posted a pic of the crossword with the spot blank for folks to put their own "answers!" Have fun!

Posted in Father tries to "teach gun safety" to young sons, points gun everywhere, pulls the trigger thinking it's empty, kills young daughter

No, they definitely are accidents. The problem here is that they're such stupidly avoidable accidents that could have been prevented with an actual gun safety course taught by an expert.

I think the overarching issue is that, while there are gun safety courses in the US that people can take, most gun owners learn gun safety like in this case: from a family member, friend, etc. I am not a gun owner myself but have grown up around them. I learned the rules of being around my grandfather's gun collection, which were mostly flintlocks and some old Navy Revolvers but a few modern rifles, from my grandfather. We weren't allowed to touch any of them and the big thing that he always drilled in our heads was "A gun is always loaded, even if you know it isn't."

I did some of my own research into the gun laws of my own state, New York aka some of the toughest gun laws in the US, specifically, NYC's gun laws. The rest of New York State actually does not require you to apply for a permit to purchase and own a long gun, rifle or shotgun, just handguns as far as I'm able to tell from the NYS government website. But that's beside the point.

The thing I've noticed from it is that, out of all of the requirements that they expect from your application for a permit, they do not require that you take a gun safety course. I think this could potentially decrease some issues if all states (Again, speaking mainly from a New York State aspect, I do not know anything about gun laws in other states) required a certificate stating that they had gone through a certain amount of hours of gun safety training prior to applying for the permit. More than likely, the folks who don't want to be bothered with the gun safety course would not be able to get the permit in order to purchase one in the first place. Now, admittedly, this is a very idealistic idea that does not take into account many things, such as people buying guns for other people etc. But I think it would be a start, at the very least. Certainly better than what we've got now.
