Most welfare in my area pays the absolute minimum wage, if that. I've never understood this "disincentivizes going out to find work" argument when everyone I know is struggling to live on welfare. My dad, who physically cannot work and collects disability, is about to lose his house he fully paid off because the state isn't giving him enough money to pay property taxes. I don't get where this idea that people on welfare are living the high life is coming from.
