Overview

Kim and North Kardashian's TikTok or @KimandNorth is the shared TikTok page of Kim Kardashian and her daughter North West Kardashian. The account was started in November 2021 and gained over 12.3 million followers in a year. It has garnered controversy several times, including criticism from Kanye West in in March 2022, who does not approve of North being on TikTok. In January 2023, a video where North dresses as Kanye went viral alongside one where she and Kim lip dub to Taylor Swift.

History

Kim and North Kardashian posted their first video to their TikTok^[1] account @kimandnorth on November 25th, 2021. They continued to post regularly over the following year, each video gaining millions of views. The content includes recent TikTok trends, lip dubs and dances, often featuring both North and Kim (examples shown below).

Kim Kardashian And North West's "Emo Girl" TikTok

On March 9th, 2022, Kim Kardashian and her daughter North West, along with Kourtney Kardashian's daughter Penelope, posted a video to their account where they wear emo makeup and lip dup to "Emo Girl" (reupload shown below).

On March 13th, Kanye West posted a screenshot of the TikTok video to his Instagram page writing a caption about his disapproval of North being on TikTok (shown below, left). He also shared a screenshot of a text message from rapper The Game suggesting Kim is using North and TikTok to get under his skin (shown below, right). Both posts were deleted.

Kanye also posted a video (now deleted) airing out his issues with North being on TikTok, wearing full makeup and singing "Emo Girl," saying he should have had a say in the upload. The "Emo Girl" video was deleted from the @kimandnorth page, assumedly by Kim following the backlash.^[2]

January 5th, 2023 Taylor Swift / Ye Cosplay Videos

On January 5th, 2023, @kimandnorth posted two videos to TikTok.^[3][4] In the first, Kim and North lip dub to Taylor Swift, garnering over 8.7 million views in a day (shown below, left). In the second, North appears in a costume of her dad Kanye West, garnering over 36.3 million views in the same span of time (shown below, right). The videos gained widespread media attention, with some, including TMZ,^[5] relating it to the feud between Kanye and Taylor stemming from the Kanye Interrupts incident.

The video was also reacted to numerous times on TikTok, with some expressing confusion over the Kanye cosplay video and shock over how much North resembles Ye. The reactions were mostly positive (example shown below).
