Sad Violin

"Sad Violin" is the fan-given title of "Sad Romance," an instrumental song from the soundtrack for the 2003 Korean TV drama series Over the Green Fields , that has been featured in a wide range of videos on YouTube, including original sketches, parodies and remix videos.
Origin
Originally titled "Sad Romance", the instrumental song was written by South Korean composer Ji Pyeongkeyon for the soundtrack of the 2003 Korean TV drama Over the Green Fields (저 푸른 초원위에), which was released in late 2002 (shown below, left).[1] Later on, Ji also composed a string arrangement of the original song (shown below, right), which has become the most frequently sampled version, particularly in the case of montage parodies.

On July 25th, 2007, the earliest known video featuring "Sad Violin" was uploaded by YouTuber elmo126 in a fan-made music video for Final Fantasy X (shown below, left). As of February 2015, the video has gained over 2 million views and 7,700 likes. As montage parodies became increasingly popular on YouTube, the use of the song for dramatic effect in comedic videos also became a trend on its own. On March 14th, 2014, YouTuber Dankster Prankster uploaded a heavily distorted version titled "I crei everytime" (shown below, right), a reference to a notorious misspelling of the phrase "I cry everytime".
On April 22nd, 2014, YouTuber Baba Yetu uploaded an instrumental mashup that combines "Sad Violin" and Airhorn sound effects (shown below). Despite its short length of 21 seconds, the mashup has been since featured in numerous montage parody videos.
