Alan Scheer, also known as The Fitness Philosopher or @scheereddzz, is a fitness influencer and philosopher on TikTok and Instagram. He's most known online as the guy that looks like an Ancient Greek God or Roman emperor because of his physique, face and beard. He's been ironically compared to Prometheus, Zeus and the Yes Chad Wojak meme. He started posting to TikTok in early 2021 and has since grown a notable following.

Background

Alan Scheer grew up in Midlothian, Texas where, during his adolescence, he competed as a swimmer, reaching National and State competitions in 2018.^[1] Throughout high school and into college, he became dedicated to fitness and physical wellness. In his website's bio,^[2] written in 2021, he stated, "8 years ago I made the decision to become the best version of myself. This started with the desire to be better at sports, and eventually lead to coaching others. I believe that Health is Wealth, and strive daily to make a positive impact on society’s perceptions of 'fitness.'"

Online History

Before he started posting to TikTok, Scheer had a small presence on Instagram. His first Instagram^[3] post was made on May 11th, 2016, and over the course of six years, it received over 140 likes.

However, Scheer didn't become notable online until he started posting on TikTok. On January 12th, 2022, scheereddzz posted his first video,^[4] being of him holding his weight on a ring set-up. Over the course of three months, the video received roughly 4,800 plays (shown below, left). On January 27th, 2022, scheereddzz posted a TikTok^[5] that received more viral engagement, earning roughly 61,800 plays and 2,300 likes in three months (shown below, center). On February 5th, 2022, scheereddzz posted a TikTok^[6] that displayed his diet, earning roughly 145,100 plays and 7,400 likes in two months (shown below, right).

By March 2022, scheereddzz started to become more philosophical in the sentiment of his content. For instance, he posted a TikTok^[7] on March 9th, 2022 that had a text overlay reading, "Hear me out. All lifting is Ego lifting." The video earned roughly 16,500 plays in one month (shown below, left). On March 15th, scheereddzz posted a TikTok^[8] that earned roughly 2.8 million plays and 562,800 likes in one month (shown below, center). On March 18th, he posted a video^[9] stating, "Greek god summer will be upon us soon…" earning roughly 82,200 plays in one month (shown below, right).

Going into March and April 2022, scheereddzz continued to lean into the idea that he looked like a Greek God. For instance, on March 26th, 2022, he posted a TikTok^[10] that used the song, "I Bet U Won't," a part of the Black Man In An Orange Suit trend, to make a joke about who came out of the Trojan Horse. The video earned roughly 3 million plays and 512,000 likes in one month (shown below, left). On March 30th, 2022, scheereddzz responded to a comment that stated he looked like the Yes Chad meme. The video^[11] earned roughly 2.2 million plays and 248,800 likes in one month (shown below, right).

Images and screenshots of scheereddzz started to make their way into memes on other platforms going into April 2022. For instance, on April 23rd, 2022, Twitter ^[12] user MarlboroManCo photoshopped scheereddzz's face next to Timothée Chalomet's, captioning the image macro, "POV: you're in a party and Hadrian and Antinous dig your vibe." The tweet referenced the We Saw You From Across The X And Really Dig Your Vibe snowclone. Over the course of three days, the tweet received roughly 7,600 likes (shown below).
