Mia Goth Speaking Portuguese, also known as Mia Goth Portuguese Voice or Mia Goth Portuguese Accent, refers to a series of memes and jokes based on an interview with British actress Mia Goth in which she spoke Portuguese with a Brazilian reporter at the MaXXXine film premiere in early July 2024. Goth's unique, high-pitched voice sparked parodies and memes on Twitter / X and TikTok over the following days.

Origin

On July 6th, 2024, the Brazilian news channel SBT aired an interview with the British actress Mia Goth about her upcoming MaXXXine film premiere and her Brazilian roots, as Goth is the nephew of the famous Brazilian actress Maria Gladys. The reporter asks if the actress wants to do the interview and Goth responds in Portuguese, "ah sim eu falo português, mas é melhor se falarmos em inglês," which translates in English to, "oh yes, I speak Portuguese, but it would be better if we speak in English." The video (seen below) amassed more than 26,000 views and 1,400 likes on YouTube.^[1]

The actress's unique accent while speaking in Portuguese became the subject of parodies and memes on social media in subsequent days as the interview went viral. For instance, on July 8th, 2024, X^[2] user @tuttigachimuchi edited Goth's voice in a video of a horse being interviewed (seen below), which garnered over 3.6 million views and 71,000 likes in two days.

On July 9th, 2024, X^[3] user @360_bratwurst edited the actress' interview as if she was a character in Animal Crossing (seen below), which received more than 1 million views and 43,000 likes in a day.
