About

Mads Mikkelsen Opening Vodka During Interview is an image macro based on a 2016 interview with actor Mads Mikkelsen for the film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story in which he allegedly pours himself a glass of vodka and drinks.

Origin

On December 20th, 2016, YouTube account Deutschlandfunk Nova published a video from a press junket for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. During the interview, Mikkelsen picks up a glass bottle, pours the contents into a glass and drinks. The post received more than 2,000 views in less than five years (shown below).

Spread

One week later, on December 27th, 2016, Twitter [1] user @MrFilmkritik tweeted a screenshot from the interview with the caption, "End of 2016 mood: Mads Mikkelsen opening a full bottle of vodka in the middle of a Rogue One interview." The tweet received more than 13,000 likes and 9,300 retweets in less than five years (shown below, left). That day, Tumblr [4] user zombeesknees posted the tweet and receive more than 100,000 notes.

The image continued to spread over the next few years. On April 19th, 2019, Twitter[3] @SitiMun6557 tweeted the picture with the caption, "good night to nobody except vodka interview mads" (shown below, right).
