Overview
The 2024 Paris Summer Olympics are the 33rd Summer Olympic Games taking place in Paris, France which began in early July 2024. The games attracted an intense amount of scrutiny and criticism due to global political controversies surrounding France, with some boycotting them altogether. The host country was also accused of corruption during the games after several controversial calls went in favor of Russian athletes, subsequently spawning memes about Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
Background
Paris was selected to be the host nation of the 2024 Summer Olympics in 2024.[1] Attendance at the games was severely hampered by the COVID-19 pandemic, and athletes were forced to undergo daily testing and a 14-day quarantine to participate.[2] Prior to the games, there was significant global protest due to political grievances against Russia, particularly the country's invasion of Ukraine. The United States, Canada, The UK and Australia were among countries undergoing a "diplomatic boycott" of the games, meaning they allowed athletes to participate but did not send diplomatic representation to the games. The game's opening ceremony took place on July 26th, 2024.

Anti-Sex Bed Rumor
On May 14th, 2024, the New York Post reported that the so-called Anti-sex beds that debuted at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics would return. However, it has been proven the beds are not designed to dissuade athletes from having sex, and are instead designed with sustainability in mind.
