About

Está bonito (Eng: "It's pretty"), Está bien culero ("It's fucking horrible"), Como que si te enseñan un bebé ("As if they show you a baby") and No estas siendo sincero ("You are not being sincere") refer to phrases said by Mexican YouTuber and Loquendero Super Wario Man. The full phrase is Como que si te enseñan un bebé y dices "está bonito", este, obvia… Y en tu mente no piensas eso es que no estas siendo sincero, pero si lo dices que "está bien culero", se oye feo (As if they show you a baby and you say "it's pretty", um, obvious… But if in your mind you don't think that, that then you're not being sincere, but if you say it "it's fucking horrible", it sounds ugly). The phrase quickly became viral on the Hispanic internet, inspiring numerous parody videos, memes, remixes, fanarts, AI videos and mentions by various spanish-speaking YouTubers and other popular users, largely to mock Super Wario Man.

Origin

In 2016, a dispute occurred between Super Wario Man and his followers against the users Indagación del Ocio and Doomentio, after Super Wario Man accused Ocio of "not knowing anything about dubbing" or "speaking badly about castilian dubbing." This later led to a live-streamed debate between them on Ocio's channel, where Wario would be supported by the users Steven Mega Sandwich / UltraRetroLoquendero and DJ Harmony.[1]

In this debate, Wario quickly made a fool of himself after being left alone by his two peers, and he would end up being unable to prove that the accusations he made against Ocio were true. At one point Wario in this debate mentions that "being sincere and starting to fuck around are not the same thing." Ocio and Doom then ask him to explain what he is referring to with this, and Wario responds with a very nonsensical analogy where he states that "It's like if they show you a baby and you say 'it's pretty,' however if you in your mind don't think that's because you're not being sincere, but if you say that 'it's fucking horrible,' it sounds ugly." Doom quickly refutes this and then Wario tries to respond by arguing that "sincerity must be said", but then he gets quickly silenced by an angry Ocio due to the fact that the debate had been going on for 2 hours and they had not reached a concrete conclusion.[2]

After this debate, Wario ended up humiliated by being forced to apologize to Ocio and Doom for defaming them and also asked to stop bothering them. Several phrases said by Wario in this livestream would end up becoming well-known memes of Super Wario Man and used to mock him, such as "Te ardes mucho" ("You burn a lot") and "Es informacion que me llegó" ("It's information that came to me"), but the most popular of these would end up being his attempt at making an analogy by using a baby as an example and how it is needed to be "sincere."[3]

Spread

The original clip depicting Wario saying this phrase was published on April 21st, 2021 by the user Super Kaki T. on YouTube.[3] However, it would not go viral until a year later, when at the end of 2022, Super Wario Man was in a conflict with the users PlutonicClown, Kyuka Fox and xBlackValentine. They along with their followers would begin to use this phrase to mock Wario[4], making it increasingly popular in the Doomverse and Loquendo communities, with various memes, videos and animations parodying it. This also involved the Doomposting group which would also begin to make fun of Wario and make memes using this phrase (examples shown below).

Finally, in the year 2023, after several memes and videos about Wario in the Doomverse community using his baby analogy, the phrase would become even more popular throughout the Hispanic internet in general after the Mexican YouTuber Woshingo made a video talking about the meme and laughing at it. This later inspired a trend that focused on creating Artificial Intelligence voice videos where different characters or personalities said the dialogue instead of Wario (example shown below).[5]

During one of his livestreams on Twitch, the popular YouTuber and cartoonist Sr Pelo, drew Super Wario Man while recognizing the "Está bonito" meme, later revealing that he asked Charles Martinet to make an audio with Wario's voice saying the phrase, audio that the actor would not record due to the swearing language and instead responded with audio saying "Have a rotten day" in Spanish (May 8th, 2023 YouTube reupload by Friki Posting shown below).[5]

W M Esta bonito Esta bien Culero

Due to the popularity of the meme, some people have asked Gerardo Alonso (Spanish Wario's voice actor) to record the phrase using Wario's voice, but this has yet to happen.[5]

Some clarifications in regards to the original phrase translations:

"Está bonito" is closer to "Its/They're cute", since it's talking about a baby.

"Está bien culero" would be "It's/They're very ugly". "Culero" CAN mean "asshole" depending on the context, but it's also used to refer things/people whose aesthetic appeal is less than optimal/desirable. AKA. Very ugly… There isn't a direct equivalent in English, but that would be the equivalent on this specific instance.
