About

Donald Trump Quotes Bane's Speech is a troll quote image macro series inspired byh a video clip highlighting the similarity between an edited excerpt from President Trump's inaugural address and a quote said by Bane, the main villain from the 2012 thriller-superhero film The Dark Knight Rises.

Origin

On January 20th, 2017, shortly after Donald Trump delivered his first presidential speech at the inauguration ceremony, Deadspin[2] editor Timothy Burke tweeted a video comparing a line said by President Trump during his inaugural address and a memorable scene from The Dark Knight Rises wherein Bane delivers a populist speech to declare his reign over Gotham City by telling the citizens.

Trump: Today's ceremony, however, has very special meaning because today, we are not merely transferring power from one administration to another or from one party to another, but we are transferring power from Washington, D.C. and giving it back to you, the people.[1]

Bane: “We take Gotham from the corrupt! The rich! The oppressors of generations who have kept you down with myths of opportunity, and we give it back to you… the people. Gotham is yours. None shall interfere. Do as you please.”[13]
