I feel like every other day, at least one of the 8 galleries featured on the sidebar (a) has no trending images, (b) has no images whatsoever, and/or © is not, by any stretch of the word, a meme, and has never had memes made of it. Currently one of the slots is taken up by Rotten.com, a gallery with 4 images in it, about a gore website that apparently closed down in 2015. How, exactly, did this one rise through the ranks?
The "Also trending" bar at the top is even worse. I've seen topics that have a grand total of 0 images and 0 videos in the galleries, sometimes pertaining to topics currently relevant to the zeitgeist, and sometimes not. Half the time it feels like the mods are just trying to either be relevant in some form, or trying to make fetch happen, but half the time I can't even offer that explanation. They're topics that shouldn't even have pages, let alone be pushed to the front page.
This isn't even about there being too much softcore porn on this site, I don't have a problem with that. Those at least qualify as memes some of the time. This website is called "Know your meme." It is not called "Know your obscure, completely irrelevant NSFL websites, as well as any current events that might be happening in the world today." There is absolutely nothing wrong with being a website that simply catalogues what memes are hot now and what memes are having their 13th anniversary or whatever, which occasionally may not even have 8 trending galleries. I wish this site would just be okay with being that.
