He's popular because he's saying all the things people who are sick of partisan politics want to hear. Nobody thinks he can actually do the things he says he can do, but making Trump the nominee would send a message. The same message picking Sanders sends to the Democrats. A Trump vs. Sanders ticket would be a circus for all the right reasons, that would mean the people decided to take their voting power seriously and send a very clear message of dissatisfaction to the politicians in this country: you are not our only option, we do not have to vote how you want and expect us to, and we would rather see public enemy #1 or an actual Socialist lead the country than another one of you.
Trump is leading every poll and Hillary's numbers are tanking while Sanders sells out 100k seat stadiums. We're seeing exactly what we saw when the people of California were so fed up with their governor they petitioned for a recall election and voted goddamn Arnold Schwarzenegger in twice, except now it's happening on a national scale.
