A reminder that these kind of articles are either written by idiots or by clickbait authors who want you to be angry so you will click on the article to leave a scathing comment.

Either way you should not pay attention to these articles, and if you really must link to it create an archive link so they don't get any clicks, and therefore, money from it.

Tolkien was a devout Catholic, and he did not make a conscious effort (as he says) to keep his mindset out of his work. That mindset is evidenced in other ways in the story, and it's laughable that Christianity, a fundamental part of that mindset could somehow be left out. Eru Illuvatar is a direct parallel to the Christian God, and despite the Nordic mythological analogues also present in the story, the mythology of LOTR and Middle-Earth as a whole are intensely Christian.

I am guessing that the person who wrote that article is one of those insufferable Internet 'new atheists' who can't bear that anything positive might be connected with Christianity, as evidenced by his constant demands in the comments of his own article that commenters provide explicit proof of Christianity within LOTR. Fortunately it seems like all this article did was make everyone think he was a total tool.
