I like the detail with Kylo's sword being a toy one

The way I see it, Kylo is and always was a terrible villain, but before The Last Jedi there could have been something done with him as a character
A guy who pretends to be Vader, but very clearly is not. It does offer some playing field, as long as the writers are skilled enough and can pick a path and stick with it
Then again, most TFA characters had at least something to work with before they got Rian Johnsoned

If nothing else, Kylo being such a mockable hack at least is a fitting metaphor for the entirety of the sequel trillogy
