World War II - The Price by Thom Lea

In case anyone wants to know why I decided to upload this, I have left my reasoning in the image notes.

To summarise though, it is because it's the truth of the situation for the individual soldier.

We get so caught up in the grander scheme of things and of the epic tales told across multiple generations that we forget.

We forget that each casualty and each "Bad Guy" killed was just a normal human being, just like you or me.

We forget that these were not Badass Soldiers, but shop keepers, farmers, office workers, bank clerks. Just ordinary people, like you or me.

We forget that this is not some ancient war fought by faceless armies in a far-off distant land, as Europe's annual Iron Harvest, or the rusting wrecks of Peleliu show. It was fought only a lifetime ago, fought by people, like you or me.

We forget that in the end it was just people. People like you or me.
