Technically, it wasn't female-washed. They are two distinct characters where one drew inspiration from another while being different in a new and interesting way. Changing from metallic to plastic arms, the different reveal, and a sleeker more modern look makes her not a knock off, but rather a reinterpretation.
Taking a character, making them female, and expecting everyone to pretend that that was the original is at best lazy, and at worst manipulative. But this is why spider-verse is an acclaimed film and ghost busters (2016) is hardly even remembered outside of internet fights. Then again, we can't all be spider-verse, that was a great film.
It’s when, for example, your in the main universe and suddenly everyone starts referring to Jane Foster as ‘Thor’ with a straight face that we have a problem.
