Jack Schlossberg is a social media influencer and political activist who is the only grandson of President John F. Kennedy. He gained online prominence in 2023 and 2024 for TikTok posts that showed him engaging in a variety of surreal and niche activities alongside more conventional political content. Since his rise to prominence online, many social media users have celebrated him for carrying the public image of the Kennedy political dynasty into new territories.

Schlossberg was born in 1993. His mother, Caroline Kennedy, is the daughter of President John F. Kennedy and was the Ambassador to Japan during the Obama administration and the current ambassador to Australia. Schlossberg graduated from Harvard Law School with an MBA and a JD and has been involved in a variety of causes relating to his family and the environment.[1]

Online History

Instagram Presence

Schlossberg has maintained an Instagram since 2012, posting various pictures related to his personal and professional lives. In 2017 and 2018, he started posting screenshots of Google Search results generally comparing two similar terms with a zany caption attached. For example, on November 29th, 2018, Schlossberg posted the photo (seen below) to Instagram with the caption, "Damn, they're not real babies!!" receiving over 930 likes in six years.[2]

Schlossberg's social media profile started to rise to influencer levels in 2023. An early influential post to his Stories showed the scion of the famous family complaining about the quality of service at restaurants, calling it a "rest-a-rant." @RussellFalcon earned over 6,300 likes over a year on July 4th, 2023, for referring fondly to Schlossberg as a "deranged himbo."[3] The rest-a-rant was also described in publications like Rolling Stone.[1]

After his cousin Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced his candidacy for President, Schlossberg posted videos criticizing him as many members of the Kennedy family did, including the May 3rd Reel (seen below), which received over 12,300 likes over the course of two months.[4] A theme of Schlossberg's content is his support for President Joe Biden and the Democratic Party of his grandfather. As of June 2024, Schlossberg has 165,000 followers on Instagram.

Following the first round of the 2024 Presidential debates, Schlossberg's Instagram stories reacting to the television broadcast were widely shared and reported on. A post to X by the account @pelicinema screenshotting his story comparing himself to Rachel Maddow (seen below) received over 8,500 likes in 12 hours on June 28th.[5] Others shared a clip of him taking an ice bath during the debate which he shared to his stories.

TikTok Presence

Schlossberg has maintained a TikTok account since May 2024. As of June 2024, he has over 77,000 followers. Like on his Instagram, his content often revolves around different "characters" doing voices and discussing politics as well as surrealistic posting and lip-synchs.[6]

Schlossberg's popularity on TikTok took off in May 2024. A May 17th post of him telling viewers they were "playing with fire" and he was going "full send" earned over 1.5 million views and 105,000 likes (seen below, left) over the course of a month.[7] A TikTok post of Schlossberg riding around on an electric skateboard while reciting Lord Byron's sonnet "She Walks In Beauty" (seen below right) posted on June 9th, 2024, received over 49,100 likes and 385,000 views across three weeks.[8]

On the platform, many compared Schlossberg to Dennis Reynolds or his grandmother Jackie Kennedy's famous Bouvier relatives who were the subject of the documentary "Grey Gardens."
