Number 19: Mouse In Baked Beans is a catchphrase said in a YouTube video about horrifying discoveries in food packages. The audio was isolated and became a meme after it was included in the Roblox game Bear.

Origin

On January 19th, 2018, YouTube channel They will Kill You posted a video counting down the "20 Most Disgusting Things Found in Food,"^[1] gaining over 676,000 views in six years. For the second entry in the countdown, the narrator reads "Number 19: Mouse In Baked Beans!" and tells of a 2010 story in which a dead rat was found in a tin of baked beans.^[2]

The sound effect was included in the Roblix game Bear. On February 3rd, 2021, YouTuber 貴族 Walkerking^[3] posted a clip from the game with the "Number 19: Mouse in Baked Beans!" audio, gaining over 373,000 views in three years (shown below).

The sound and 貴族 Walkerking's clip inspired a bevy of memes connecting the phrase to rat characters on YouTube. For example, on December 29th, 2021, YouTuber MarxTheJester posted a video that gained over 109,000 views in two years (shown below, left). On March 24th, 2022, YouTuber 27N1 posted a video that gained over 195,000 views in two years (shown below, right).

貴族 Walkerking's clip was also the source of myriad recaption memes on TikTok. For example, On July 8th, 2023, TikToker @x.0.official..pibby.0.x^[5] posted an edit that gained over 179,000 likes in nearly one year (shown below, left). On July 30th, TikToker widowmaker.main14^[4] posted the video with a caption about a person leaving their room, gaining over 11 million views in nearly a similar time frame (shown below, right).
