Official Tweet: Unfortunately, a matchmaking issue was discovered in the first Japanese Splatfest that resulted in long wait times and players being unable to join matches. We have been working on a solution but will need a little more time to resolve the issue. In order to ensure that fans have the best possible experience and can enjoy the fun they've come to expect from Splatoon, we have decided to postpone the first North American Splatfest. It's sadly been a bad week for the big-N after E3 and now this. It's, of course, unfortunate and disappointing that the event's debut has been delayed, but at least the dev team is trying to iron out all the kinks to make the first Splatfest as great as possible and avoid another Global Misfire. From what I can gather, the event was held in Japan first as a semi-test run, and there were a lot of problems with the servers. Ninty tried to work out the issues until the last moment but unfortunately had to pull the plug altogether for the North American event, which explains the last minute notification. That also explains why earlier today in Inkopolis there were trucks and gillboards, but now they along with the ballot and the Splatfest tees are gone. Hopefully they'll be able to work out the issues soon!
