http://tirledbetter.tumblr.com/post/104902884752/im-actually-getting pretty-tired-of-defending » tlrledbetter I'm actually getting pretty tired of defending Nickelodeon's actions when Korra fans hate on them. Not only because they're (somewhat) overreacting, but because Nick has in fact done some stupid stuff when it's come to this show and I can't defend every single thing they do BUT! I still stand The same could be said about Disney and their action shows, given that they scrapped EMH's, Wolverine and his bubs, and Spectacular Spiderman for shows that quite honestly suck, but Disney and Cartoon Network (let's face it, Ben 10's been on the highway to s--- since the original series, even then it wasn't that great, it's best episode was the crossover with Generator Rex) at least treat most of it's audience with more respect than what Nick put's out other than TMNT (Korra's on the way out). With Disney, you're getting genre changing shows like PnF and Gravity Falls and we're gonna get a new female led show in 2015 CN changes things constantly in order to find something that works. In fact, if they wanted to, I wouldn't be surprised if they were the ones that finally got the Modifyers off the ground and did it in the same style as the mini-series Over the Garden Wall (the best thing CN has to offer in a long time), like how CN took Adventure Time from Nick. Nick, aside from TMNT and Korra, has shows that are essentially rehashes of previously established shows. Hell, most of the humor on that show insulted my little brother, and I'm pretty sure other little children for that matter. Spongebob has devolved to the point where bodily harm, suicide, and vehicular manslaughter are being used as sources of humor, and not only is that stuff both frightening and unfunny to most kids, it's also incredibly mean spirited. Breadwinners exists in the feeble minded belief that all animation is for kids given how 'trendy' it is, despite the fact that it's gonna date itself in the near future Maybe in 2015 the balance will shift, but for the time being, wait and see I can see where you're coming from, but from what I gather, it's not that Nick is deliberately disrespecting its audience; They just don't have a good grasp on what its audience wants. Think about it: With the enormous success of SpongeB only makes sense that they'd try finding another show like it. It's not a smart idea but it's an understandable one, at least. ob, it To be honest, SpongeBob has actually gotten some of its mojo back in recent years. It's still hit-and-miss, but the hits have been getting pretty good. Even the upcoming movie looks like a step in the right direction.I will admit that other shows like Breadwinners and Sanjay and Craig resort to really childish humor at times (Breadwinners more so than S&C), but did you ever stop and think that it's not because they're trying to pander to kids, but rather that it's just humor that they themselves find funny? Heck, Sanjay and Craig's gross-out humor comes from its creators growing up stories to entertain themm with nurses for moms who told them gross work What you're most likely right about is how things may change in 2015. From what I've seen of Carl Greenblatt's new show (formerly called Bad Seeds), that alone will connect with kids on a more emotional level, as they're reportedly going for more humanistic kids stories rather than off-the-wall laughs. The same probably can't be said for Dave Cooper and Johnny Ryan's Pig Goat Banana Cricket, but it's definitely shaping up too be a unique show, both in concept and design. And in 2016, we'll get Chris Savino's The Loud House, which looks to be another down-to- earth show kids will be able to relate to (and features a mostly female cast aside from its single male lead). To add to all of this, none of these shows seem to use the rehashed "bromance" theme most people are sick of seeing from Nick these days. Instant plus, right there. On top of all that, Nick is soon going to be accepting ideas for animated shorts, any of which could be made into new shows That alone shows how open they are to new On the flip side, I haven't seen much new and exciting news about Disney Channel and Cartoon Network. Sure, a lot of their current animated shows are really good but who knows long long the quality of some of them will last? The oh-so-great Adventure Time alone has lost some of its steam lately. And after those shows what's next? Aside from Star vs The Forces of Evil (which actually looks really promising), they really haven't revealed anything. Then there the questionable decisions that the networks themselves have made Disney has great animated shows (at least the ones made at Disney Television Animation), but they were all moved to Disney XD, leaving Disney Channel itself almost completely dominated by its lousy live-action programming. Talk about rehashes Cartoon Network has great shows too, but it seems fixated on only comedic or emotion-driven ones, while action gets royally shafted. Even the Toonami block can't air some of them anymore after they were written off" by the network (whatever the heck that means). thought Stu Snyderleaving would improve things in that area, but nope. Even with a new president, the network still feels poorly run. Yknow what? All of the big three kids networks have their strengths and weaknesses. How about we just leave it at that?
