Anita and her supporters, which you seem to be one of, do not understand why there are so many male leads in video games. The reason is because people do not care about white male protagonists. From Tomb Raider to Bayonetta, social justice whiners and Anita's brand of feminism are always quick to complain with games that have a white male lead, but if it is a female lead, weakness, cowardliness, fear, drunkenness, etc. no matter how slight are always amplified. Lora Croft is a badass, but a scene lasting a few seconds where it seems she may get r---- was all that SJWs and feminists could talk about. Bayonetta is a powerful, sexy, and strong-willed character, but because she is "too sexv" she is sexist and feminists like Anita hate her. Well first of all, they have to be a brand new character (Mrs. Male Character Trope), then, they can't be sexy and evil (Sexy Evil Vileness) or ugly and evil (Unattractive Equals Evil), so a woman like the male character we find in Overlord is out. Next, they have to be the lead, they cannot be sexy and a sidekick (Sexy Sidekick), but they also cannot be too sexy (Fighting F--- Toy), so they have to be average looking. There also cannot be any female NPCs (Woman as Background Decoration). Oh, and while we are at it, no magic while a person of color (Voodoo Priestess/Tribal Sorceress). She can never be rescued by anyone (Damsel in Distress) nor the love interest of anyone (Women as Reward). Oh, almost forgot, she can't be too tough or look too much like a man either (Man with Boobs) So what we need is a totally average looking, non-sexy and non-sexualized, female character that is not too tough and doesn't dress in either typical female or typical male clothing, who cannot be evil, who cannot have magical powers, who cannot be exotic who has to be the lead while not anyone's lover interest, and who is never too tough but at the same time displays no weakness requires no help, and is never captured.
