But this incident was just the last straw!" Offline And they can't figure out that the reason this was the last straw is because they hate women none of those other straws mattered. But that blast of outrage from the lizard part of their brain that they're interpreting as "the last straw" is a shitload of pent-up hatred that they really need to find another way to work through TERROR If a thousand males throw trash on your lawn over the course of 20 years, then finally a single woman comes along and drops a single Jolly Rancher wrapper and you explode into a rage, you can sit there and say she's merely the "last straw" all you want, but you're lying to yourself. There's a reason gamers "last straw" tends to have boobs Logged am Cracked Executive Editor David Wong, I just wrote a book aboutq ant parasites that take over your brain. Here I am on Facebook. Right? those people might not be motivated by a deep-seated misogyny or whatever at this point, but by another deep-seated hangup of human nature the desperate need to believe you were not a sucker and did not just jump on a really dumb bandwagon. ook at them I feel like such an idiot"I reckon a lot of people in that position would have a powerful urge to double down and try to salvage a noble storyline out of a week of wasted afternoons instead of facing the fact they've been duped TERROR I think this accounts for a lot of people who are like, "The harassment was terrible, and I agree with you that was too much, BUT.. The "but" being a last desperate rasp at reasons why they did not just spend a week putting egg on their face I actually think that's 95% of the "movement" now-people like to jump on these internet drama bandwagons (the 9/11 Truther stuff was no different, it caught up a lot of non-conspiracy nuts at first) and it's hard to back off. It becomes this self sustaining thing where they're no longer in the movement because they believe in it, but rather because the "other side" mocked them and insulted them. So now that becomes the movement - "TI'm literally campaigning for you to take me seriously about this issue that we all agree is a non-issue."
