We have partied in the hearts of cities, across wide open plains and into the deepest depths of darkest jungle. Indeed, the second thing a man does after setting forth into a new land is to party there, such is our kinds love of merriment. It was during the dull drudging days of 1915, where for month after month, plagues of poor-quality beer and corkless hats had reduced Australian morale to a bare cinder, the greatest beach party of the 20th Century was conceived. Seeing their favourite colonists in such a dire state, the British minster of POM (Partying and Other Merriments), Winston Churchill, decided to intervene. Seeing as the Australians were unaccustomed to anywhere that was not “Oh God Why?" levels of hot and were in dire need of quality booze, it was decided the best course of action was to host a beach party in Gallipoli. So 50'000 of the most miserable Australians that could be found were shipped off to Gallipoli, along with 15'000 Kiwis who were confused for Australians by the French ferry company that was hired to transport them. Once there, they were greeted by a grand spectacle of fireworks, belly-dancers and fountains of Belgium beer provided by their Turkish hosts. The resulting party could be heard hundreds of miles away and brought great joy to all who heard it. Backed up by thousands of English brewers and French chefs, the beach party of Gallipoli lasted an entire year. After such an incomprehensible amount of generosity and brotherly love, the morale of Australia sky-rocketed and, even to this very day, has yet to dip. An historical re-enactment of this greatest of beach parties is held every year at Ibiza during the long summer months, where good-natured, wholesome entertainment aimed at young families can be found in abundance. Notes

Whimsical Warfare came about from a discussion on /tg/ on taking well known events in military history and subjecting them to disneyfication in order to make them as innocuous and cuddly as possible. Due to the more general nature of the content, and the lack of a /his/ entry, I felt they belonged here instead of being in the /tg/ entry.

The Gallipoli Campaign was a failed amphibious invasion of Turkey carried out by the Entente early in WW1. The aim of the invasion was too secure the straights of the Dardanelles before besieging the Ottoman capital of Constantinople, which was hoped would knock the Ottoman empire out of the war by 1915.

Although a failure militarily, this event saw the birth of both the Australian and New Zealand national spirit, the ANZAC Spirit, which was crucial in building the national character of both countries.
