Lauren Faust Following Never give up! Never surrender! Dear little girl who got the harsh letter from Hasbro My heart goes out to you. I know almost exactly how you feel. When I was around your age, I was home sick for a whole week and to pass the time, I put together a "pitch package" for Hasbro about what kind of My Little Pony toys I would like to see. I drew illustrations of new ponies, named each of them according to their cutie mark, and even wrote songs for the commercials 5 Unlike you, I did not get a letter saying that my work was not reviewed or that it was destroyed, but what happened was almost as bad I heard absolutely nothing at all. I was so disappointed and it made me so sad that all that work I had done had come to nothing It made me never want to try to create something ever again. But that's the trick. Even though I was hurt, I kept being creative, and I kept dreaming up new ideas, drawing new pictures and writing new stories. And that is what I encourage you to take away from your disappointing experience -don't let it crush your creative spirit! Keep drawing, keep creating! Share with your friends, families and teachers- people who will encourage you and give you good advice. Don't do it because it might get on TV, do it because YOU LOVE IT AND IT MAKES YOU HAPPY. That's really all that matters. And if you keep doing that, you'll get better and better, and once you're grown, you'll be ready to try to get it out into the world for real-as an idea in a show, or a book, or a web comic or whatever! I know it's hard, but don't let one bad experience stop you from doing what you love EVER! Good luck to you! Xoxo Lauren
