About

Tattletail is a survival horror video game featuring talking toys resembling Furby[4] electronic toy robots. The game has been widely compared to Five Nights at Freddy's for its use of jump scares and requiring the player to survive five nights.

Gameplay

The game is set during Christmas in 1998 in a large house, in which the player must take care of a Baby Talking Tattletail toy and complete various objectives before going to bed each night. A Mama Tattletail toy must be avoided, which will attack the player if they make too much noise in the toy's immediate vicinity.

History

On December 28th, the game was officially released on Steam for Microsoft Windows and Mac OS systems.[1] That day, the official trailer for the game was released (shown below).

Online Presence

On December 29th, 2016, the /r/Tattletail[2] subreddit was launched for discussions about the game. That day, a page for the game was created on TV Tropes.[3] The video game streaming site Twitch[5] maintains a Tattletail directory for related streams.

Let's Play Videos

Two days later, jacksepticeye uploaded another Let's Play video (shown below, left). In nine days, the video received upwards of 1.44 million views and 15,100 comments. On January 24th, the Smosh Games channel uploaded an Honest Game Trailers episode mocking the game, which gathered over 375,000 views and 220 comments in 48 hours (shown below, right).
