Fatal Frame / Project Zero

About

Fatal Frame, known as Project Zero in Europe and Australia, and as Zero (Japanese: 零) in Japan, is a survival horror video game series, so far consisting of four games and a spin-off. The first and second games in the series were released for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox, the third game is only available for the PlayStation 2, and the fourth game has been released exclusively for the Wii. The series' plot deals with ghosts, exorcism, and dark Shinto rituals.

Gameplay

During the game, the player finds themselves in an area covered in ghosts. The player than finds a camera with Exorcismal power. The player uses this to take pictures of the ghosts and defeat them.



History

Created by Tecmo, Fatal Frame is one of the most well received survival horror games to date. It was a unique entry in the genre, as the player explores a mansion and takes photographs of ghosts in order to defeat them. The Fatal Frame series has since gained a reputation as one of the most distinctive in the genre, with the first game in the series credited as one of the best-written survival horror games ever made, by UGO Networks.

The game has inspired many reaction videos and Let's Plays that typically feature a player becoming visibly or audibly frightened while playing the game. One of the most notable were many reaction videos uploaded by "4PlayerPodcast".
