Maximilian Christiansen , also known as Maximilian Dood, is a Fighting Game content producer, popularly known for his Online Warrior , Assist Me! , and Boss Rage video series on YouTube. He also produces content on Twitch.tv , which is archived on the YouTube channel Yo! Videogames .

Online History

Early Career

Max began his YouTube career in 2007, posting casual and tournament gameplay videos of Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike and Street Fighter IV, along with gameplay and commentary of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Modern Warfare 2, and Black Ops , with several videos gaining over 1 Million views.

 

The Online Warrior

in 2011, Max uploaded Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Maximilian's 'The Online Warrior' Episode 1 Pt-1 , which marked the start of the series of matchmaking commentary videos in which he analyzes gameplay mechanics, character specialties, play styles, and highlights in his session of matches.

This series also has seen several iterations since it's conception, including Hype & Rage Compilations of Max's standout moments and humorous blunders, Week Of… episodes in which Max plays with a single character in a game's roster, commentating on the overall experience, and the Max & Co. Vs. The World miniseries where Max teams up with guests Mike Ross and Ryan "Gootecks" Gutierrez from Cross Counter TV for a session of matches.

Assist Me

On April 12, 2011, Max started the Assist Me! series for Marvel vs. Capcom 3, uploading the first video "Assist Me! Dr, Doom Tutorial pt. 1" on YouTube. In this series, Max goes in-depth on individual characters, explaining core moves, unique mechanics, frame data, tactical specialties and strategies in which the character plays a pivotal role.

Along with the tutorial, Assist Me! also features sketch comedy shorts, with Max interacting with various members of the Marvel vs. Capcom cast, with recurring appearances by Dr. Doom and Albert Wesker (Played by Matt Simmons and Mike Young respectively).

Since it's inception, Assist Me! has expanded to other fighting games, such as Killer Instinct, Injustice and Mortal Kombat X. Assist Me! also received a change in format, expanding the episodic skits to feature-length movies which premiered live, integrating them into his gameplay streams on Twitch.

Boss Rage

Boss Rage! is a montage series in which Max and the Yo! Videogames crew challenges and defeats infamously difficult videogame bosses on their hardest possible difficulty setting.
The series began on December 21, 2013, in which Max takes on and defeats the final boss Eyedol of Killer Instinct . Since then they have successfully defeated the bosses of many other games, including Marvel vs. Capcom 3 , Capcom vs. SNK 2 , Bio F.R.E.A.K.S , Mortal Kombat 9 , and more.

Fighting Game Community

Max is known for being a prominent figure in the Fighting Game Community, as well as a premier Fighting Game centric channel on YouTube, accruing over 1 million subscribers and over 1 Billion overall views. His twitch.tv channel has also seen great success, with over 1 million followers, 40 million unique views, and appearing on top streams list multiple times with peak viewership exceeding 30,000 viewers.

His Assist Me! video series has gained recognition and praise from Capcom, which prompted him to release Ultimate Assist Me! and Retro Assist Me.
Max was also one of the recipients of the honorary Cannon Award during EVO 2015 for his exceptional work in the Fighting Game Community.

The Streamer Awards' 2024 Legacy Streamer Award Reception

On February 17, 2024, Max was awarded the Legacy Streamer Award at the 3rd Annual The Streamer Awards show for his long-term, multi-platform content creation, innovative productions, as well as premier Fighting Game coverage and event hosting on YouTube and Twitch with an archive spanning over 15 years.

  

Video Game Involvement

Max has input multiple contributions to a number of Fighting Games, being featured as a selectable commentator in the fighting game Yatagarasu: Attack on Cataclysm, as well as seeing recognition from Netherrealm Studios' head and Mortal Kombat creator Ed Boon, praising the quality of his 'Mortal Kombat X: Hidden Intros' April Fools Joke video.

Max was contracted to produce content for Iron Galaxy's Killer Instinct , primarily video editing for promotional material, character trailers, and cinematics for the game's Story.
Max also performed commentary at several Fighting Game tournaments including KI's Evolution Championship Grand Finals, and hosted multiple tournaments on his twitch.tv channel such as the Killer Instinct World Cup , Marvel Lives! and MKX Lives! live broadcast.

Super Best Friends Play

Max's channel has also been stated to be a favorite of the Super Best Friends Play crew, in which his videos and exploits are mentioned in a number of videos and podcasts, with Matt and Woolie of said fame joining Max and the Yo! Videogames crew for a collaborative crossover stream on twitch.tv.

  
  

Jitsu Squad Cameo

Max alongside Yooka-Laylee are featured cameo assists for the 2022 4-player co-op Beat-em-Up game Jitsu Squad developed by Tanuki Creative Studio. In the game, Max is dressed in a Shoto-stylized Red Gi, and with the assistance of his pet dog Benny, fires a screen clearing Hype Beam to defeat enemies.

 
 

Naraka: Bladepoint Crossover Event

In July 2023, Naraka: Bladepoint , a melee-focused multiplayer Battle Royale developed by 24 Entertainment, celebrated its 2nd anniversary with announcements of going Free-to-Play alongside promotional events and a crossover with Maximilian_Dood, adding a bundle featuring a premium skin, emotes, and special UI effects. In addition, Max had several sponsored streams in which viewers were eligible to unlock bundle drops during the crossover event.
