Nek Minnit (alternatively Negg Minute or Nek Minute) is a video clip of New Zealand street skater Levi Hawken^[1] talking about a broken scooter in a heavy, faked accent.

Origin

The clip comes from Colin Evans' independent skate film "South in your Mouth"

The film premiered on November 26th, 2010 at the Hollywood 3 in Sumner, Christchurch, New Zealand.^[2]

The clip of Levi with a faux accent was first uploaded to YouTube as "Negg Minute" on May 8th 2011.

It was reuploaded by phillyfan06 as Nek Minute^[4] on August 16, 2011. This version of the video has 100,000+ more views than the original.

About Levi

Levi Hawken is well known in New Zealand for "hill bombing" using a normal skateboard, instead of using the typical longboard for this technique. A short documentary of Levi Hawken's personal life and skating career was featured on Auckland's edition of 20/20 on June 23, 2011.^[5]
