About

MC Mirella Sobrancelha, also known as MC MIrella's Eyebrow and Sus Eyebrow in English, is an exploitable image used in a series of Photoshop edits featuring the eyes and raised eyebrows of the Brazilian funk singer MC Mirella. The meme format was popularized on Twitter around July 2021 as a reaction image used to express suspicion or curiosity, similar to The Rock's Eyebrow Raise. Later on, the Brazilian singer's raised eyebrow was then photoshopped into various animals and other images around the internet.

Origin

The earliest viral mention of the Brazilian singer MC Mirella's expressive eyebrow was posted on May 4th, 2021, by Twitter^[1] user @atlaschlmt. The image (shown below) is part of the Imitando Emojis trend, which exaggerates the singer's eyebrow and adds several raised eyebrows emojis with the Portuguese text "Mimicking Emojis." The tweet garnered 49 likes and seven retweets in two years.

A few months later, on July 15th, 2021, a since-deleted MC Mirella selfie^[2] (shown below) then became a prevalent exploitable on Twitter.

The singer's expressive raised-eyebrow selfie was photoshopped into several memes, as well as seeing use as a reaction image. For example, one of the most prominent versions of the meme features the "Sigma Cat" viral TikTok video posted by user @mle10sley in October 2020. Twitter^[3] user @ibetloui uploaded the edited cat with the raised eyebrow meme on July 13th, 2021, garnering over 150 likes and 37 retweets in two years (shown below).

On November 28th, 2021, a chihuahua dog image was edited with the Brazilian singer's raised eyebrow by Twitter^[4] user TheCoffeaDustt. The post (shown below, left) garnered over 140 likes and 33 retweets in two years. On July 16th, Twitter^[5] user @zenharts then posted a photoshopped version of the meme featuring American singer Bruno Mars. The post (shown below, right) garnered 23 likes in two years.

On July 27th, 2021, Twitter^[6] user @itsletxcia shared a video of two Brazilian celebrities using an Instagram Filter that adds MC Mirella's raised eyebrow to the person. The post (shown below) received over 170 likes and 23 retweets in two years.
