About

iLOVEFRiDAY's "Mia Khalifa" is a 2018 American trap song by rappers SmokeHijabi and Xeno Carr. Since the song's release in February of 2018, it's spawned countless memes, parodies and tributes, most notably in a series of TikTok videos often referred to as "Hit or Miss."

Origin

In October 2014, Mia Khalifa started her adult film career. She came to widespread attention after the release of a BangBros scene in which she wears a hijab during a threesome.[1] The scene brought Khalifa instant popularity, as well as criticism from writers and religious figures.[2] On December 28 that year, Pornhub revealed that she was the No. 1 ranked performer on their website.[1]

On October 29th, 2017, iLOVEFRiDAY released their first track entitled "Hate Me" on YouTube. The video has gained 1,579,455 views and 21,000 likes within two years. The music video features rapper SmokeHijabi smoking while wearing a hijab (shown below).



On January 28th, 2018, Instagram user TrashPump posted an image of a fake Mia Khalifa Tweet which reads "She's so disrespectful to all Muslim Women and gives us a bad image." The post has gained 2,700 likes in a year (shown below).

On February 12th, 2018, iLOVEFRiDAY released a diss track entitled "Mia Khalifa" in response (shown below).

On August 11th, 2018, YouTuber DJ Smallz Eyes 2 posted an interview with iLOVEFRiDAY regarding the song "Mia Khalifa" The video gained 2,349,184 views and 37,000 likes in five months (shown below). The video reveals that the duo didn't think the Tweet posted by Instagram user TrashPump was fake.



TikTok

On April 9th, 2018, Nyannyancosplay uploaded a lip dub video featuring part of the diss track "Mia Khalifa" by ILOVEFRIDAY with the message "Hit or miss? 😎💕" to TikTok.[2] On October 3rd, the video was reuploaded by YouTuber White Rationalist (shown below). On October 14th, the video was reposted by Twitter user @EthicalChad.



On November 24th, 2018, AHumanTryingToGame uploaded a "Hit Or Miss Meme Compilation"(shown below). The video gained 1,698,141 views and 45,000 likes in three months.



YouTube Removal

On January 23rd, Redditors[4] noticed the removal of the original "Mia Khalifa" music video. The video has been removed for violating YouTube's policy on hate speech. On January 10th, iLOVEFRiDAY[3] announced on their YouTube channel that their tracks were back on Spotify after being removed.
