The format expanded beyond food videos as it spread, with TikTokers filming their pets and moving the camera to the tune of the song.

On December 25th, 2023, TikToker^[4] @greatesrfajer posted a video set to the song "What You Won’t Do for Love" by Bobby Caldwell. The video (shown below) was filmed using a 0.5x camera and flash and moved with the music to show a kitten. The post may have been an early inspiration for the food-related trend as it notably features a similar style.

The earliest known video of a person recording their food using the aforementioned filming format is a January 20th, 2024, post by TikToker^[5] @_s_________________ in which they showed off their bowl of pomegranates. The post gathered over 11 million plays and 16 million likes in three weeks (seen below).

The video gathered over 13 million plays and 2 million likes in two weeks (seen below, left). On February 5th, TikToker^[1] @pr4yforgabs posted a video set to the song "What You Won’t Do for Love" by Bobby Caldwell. The video was filmed using a 0.5x camera and flash and showed a bowl of strawberries covered in chocolate. The upload gathered over 100 million views and 17 million likes in ten days (seen below, right).
