About

Omega Protocol (Ultimate) Cheating Scandal is a controversy involving a Japanese Final Fantasy XIV static (raid team) and their use of illegal mods to be the first to clear Omega Protocol (Ultimate). The scandal has caused an influx of memes surrounding the event.

Origin

The raid Omega Protocol (Ultimate) was introduced in Final Fantasy XIV's fourth expansion Endwalker in patch 6.13, which released on January 10th, 2023.[1][2] Due to the raid's high difficulty, a worldwide competition was held to see which static could clear the raid first. The Japanese static known as UNNAMED_ was reported to have first cleared it on January 24th, 2023. However, suspicions arose that some of the team's members were using illegal mods to achieve this. On January 29th, 2023, a video (shown below) was posted to YouTube which shows that the illegal zoom mod known as "Cammy"[3] was used during the raid.
