Diane Foxington is an anthropomorphic fox character from the Dreamworks animated film The Bad Guys, released in April 2022. She is an ex-thief and the Governor of California and the love interest for Mr. Wolf. The character inspired fan art, including rule 34, following its release.

History

On April 22nd, 2022, the Dreamworks animated film The Bad Guys released in theatres. One of the film's protagonists is an anthropomorphic fox named Diane Foxington, an ex-thief who used to go by Crimson Paw. At the time of the film, she is the Governor of California.^[1] She is the love interest of Mr. Wolf, the leader of The Bad Guys.

Following the release of the film's first trailer, the character inspired fan art on sites including Twitter, Tumblr and Deviant Art. On December 17th, 2021, Deviant Art^[5] user Faline-art posted a drawing of Foxington, gaining over 22,000 views in five months (shown below, left). On January 16th, 2022, Deviant Art^[4] user Skeleion posted a piece of fan art that gained over 40,000 views and 900 favorites in four months (shown below, right).

Fan art increased following the film's release. On May 3rd, Twitter^[3] user @jayrnski posted a drawing of Foxington in a ballgown, gaining over 13,000 likes in three weeks (shown below). On May 20th, Twitter^[2] user @ForestBite posted artwork of Foxington in a bikini, gaining over 9,400 likes in three days.
